For The Hunt by E.M. Raegan
We think it is the year 2236.

We don’t know the actual year, but we do know that in the winter of 2034 the world as our ancestors once knew it spiraled into a darkness and never found its way back to the light.

Demons roam our world now.

Hunting us. Feeding off us.

There are so little of us left, so little of us to fight back.

Not with the Leech King ruling our world.

I am his huntsmen. One of many.

I have no choice to but to serve him. He holds my heart captive. My little sister.

So when she sees in her visions that the hounds are coming for the King, he sends me after them. He sends me after their alpha.

Don’t come back, he tells me.

Not without the Hound’s dead heart.

But the hounds are deadly demons. Formidable. Unlike any I have ever encountered. Hunting them is futile. Not when they are hunting me in return.

Snow is their alpha, and though it may kill me to do it, kill me after he so easily forges a path through my heart, I have no choice but to obey my king. No choice but to cut out his heart.

Not if I want to save my sister.
