Heading Downstate by Thomas Carver
Drew doesn't want all that much after college: just a new start away from the big city. And this farm downstate, left to him in his uncle's will, seems like something to do, at least, for a year or two before figuring out what to do next. But Drew doesn't know anything about running a farm. Fortunately Turner, a young man about Drew's age, could use a second chance of his own as his hired man. The simple life of the country isn't so simple, though, when you're gay. He soon learns that the innocence of rural life is a lie, just as filled with drugs, violence, betrayal, and cruelty as the city. When he develops feelings for Turner and a sleazy sexual relationship with the shady hick Ethan, he has to figure out how he's going to survive this far away from anything that he knows, an outsider in the rural, southern world downstate, where sex is secret and love is shameful. This 21,000 word gay erotic romance contains scenes of rough consensual sex.
