A Life for Minnie by Katie Lockwood, Emma Maas

Mary dreams of a normal life, whatever that is. Nicknamed Minnie by her older siblings, she was born with deformed legs and feet as a result of polio, but other than her gait and diminutive size, you’d never know it.

Beautiful, talented, she longs to find love, but at twenty-one she’s already resigned herself to the life she has. Raised by a supportive family, they encourage her dreams and listen for hours as she plays the piano and sings. But she wants to sing for someone else, someone special, if only God would grant the desires of her heart.

So when Minnie is talked into answering an ad for a mail order bride, she is at first reserved; but then the magic takes hold and she’s convinced she may have just found the love of her life.

But it’s all a horrible scam.

What she doesn’t know, is that it’s a lie to get her to move west for something else entirely. Ditched at the train station, Minnie must now find her way in a new world, frightened and alone; just as the conmen planned.

But there just may be an angel of sorts watching her from afar. For there’s one heart that is stolen the moment he hears her beautiful voice. And now the eligible and handsome Joseph Black makes it his mission to find what the whole community has been trying to find for him; the love of his life.

Can a twist of fate change everything for Minnie and Joe both? Can God turn something others meant for wrong into something right for the two souls who need it most?
