Life, Love, And Pure, Sweet Romance (Life, Love, And…) by Tina K. Smith
Roman, a self-acknowledged unemployed playboy son of Texas billionaire parents, fell head-over-boots in love with a girl he’d known his whole life. All eighteen years.
Arabella was a genius and the daughter of his parents’ best friends. She came from money, also, and turned down his marriage proposal in favor of a long engagement, in which he was to court her properly - flowers, poetry, teddy bears, and all things romantic. She also wanted to go to college and get an education in hospitality and special events planning, to become a wedding planner.
But Roman, not being keen on waiting even a few weeks, much less a few years, determined himself to outsmart the pretty genius and eliminate the roadblocks she’d unnecessarily imposed. To win his ladylove, Roman romanced her, pulling out all the stops. He put his plan in motion, lavishing Arabella with romantic gestures that won her heart and made her powerless to resist his charms, even whisking her away on his family’s yacht to Aruba.
On the third day of his mission of love, he got down on one knee at sunset on a white sandy beach in Aruba, presenting her with an eye-popping diamond ring while a steel drum band played their song on the beach. And their song? The cute level went off the meter while the musicians played the theme song “Bella Notte” from the Disney cartoon, Lady and The Tramp. Rather appropriate, really, to think of the music from a children’s cartoon as being their love song, given their tender age. Roman spoke to her from his heart and drew her a picture of his vision for their future and his feelings for her, creating memories to be treasured in Arabella’s romantic heart of hearts forever. But along with her romantic wedding proposal wish-come-true, she was nearly overwhelmed with the promise and assurance of so much more, all of which hinged on one question, and awaited one answer.
Along with the promise of a lifetime of love and fidelity, and “the prettiest home in Hill Country,” Roman presented Arabella with a once-in-a-lifetime business proposition that surpassed her wildest dreams. Offering her a business partnership as well as a marriage partnership, Roman laid out his plan for their future – a new business venture, creating upscale settings for dream weddings and receptions of a caliber previously unheard-of in Texas.
As soon as she said yes, wedding bells were put in motion. In a sunset wedding at sea onboard the Lick-Her-Ish III, the magical yacht where many of their family and friends had gotten married over the years, Arabella and Roman swore their love and devotion.
Engagements lasting only hours instead of months, nuptials involving multimillion-dollar business deals, and spray-painted wedding dresses might sound foreign and extreme to other people, but they’re really quite the norm in this circle of wealthy Texans. And as it happened, this particular merger of two trust-fund Texas titans differed only because it was the proverbial teenage wedding, and the old folks wished them well. And you could tell, the herr did truly love the mademoiselle.
But of course, happily-ever-afters aren’t simply handed out for free. Certain things need to be fully experienced first to be fully appreciated – things like life, love, and pure, sweet romance.
