It was love at first sight for me. Lyle was two years older than I was when we first met and I felt an instant connection that never left me. Sadly, I can't say that I'd ever noticed him feeling anything like the same thing.
The older we got, the more distant he go and by the time he was attending high school, he'd well and truly left me behind. It was only when the bullying started in earnest when I started at high school that he came swooping back into my life like some sort of knight in shining armour and our friendship got miraculously rekindled...
The night he finally kissed me had my heart soaring but the next day, it was like it had never happened - like he'd never existed in my life at all. He'd gone to university, without even saying goodbye and he hadn't contacted me since.
What the hell was I supposed to do about it? Should I call him? Would he want me to?
But then, something happened and there was nothing else for it. I had to call him. I needed him. And quickly....
