Cleo and Petra, twin siblings, live in an orphanage in New York City. Their world changes during The Event when Petra is abducted from her bedroom inside the orphanage. Having her twin taken from her causes Cleo to agree to complete the tasks Bastet insists Cleo needs to finish for the Egyptian goddess if Cleo wants to learn who captured her sister before Cleo and Petra are together again.

Upon finding herself in London, Cleo learns more about The Event and meets Sharissa, the elven woman who befriends Cleo, while the twin retrieves the item Bastet sent Cleo to London to find.

This tale is part one of a collection of short stories set in the world of Bastet's Daughters, taking place before/during The Event.
