Fantasy and Reality: A Jane Austenesque Novelette by Gwendolyn Richardson, Wendy Merk
This tale was created as an homage to Jane Austen; set in Regency England, this fast-paced and entertaining story moves from a quaint village to the wilds of the city of London. It details the exciting and often amusing exploits of Caroline Gray, a husband-hunter, her silly but sweet maid Kitty, Captain Richardson, a naval officer who becomes smitten with a somewhat older lady, and the love-struck carriage-driver Bartleby. Their adventures are complicated by the interventions of a well-meaning aunt and a not-so-well-meaning bosom friend. Comments from readers of the novelette:
"Nicely wrought!"
“Great job, I loved it!”
"Great characters ,very enjoyable."
"It was just wonderful."
"What a treat!!"
"A terrific job of portraying the atmosphere and sensibilities of the times.""The descriptions of fashion and items they wore are beautiful."
"Gripping and fun!"
"Very exciting."
"I love this."
