Fitzwilliam Darcy arrives at Netherfield on the eve of the funeral due to a misdirected letter. He throws himself into the repair work on the Bennets' cottage, pouring all of his unrequited love for Elizabeth into the work.

Love grows with the advancing spring, just as surely as the lovely old roses begin to grow at the derelict cottage.
