Evelyna: The Reluctant Bride by Eva Marhoff
About the Book

Evelyna is the illegitimate daughter of Lady Anna Wagfield who is raised by relatives. It is only after their death, at seven years of age, that she enters into her mother’s household. The latter is now married to the good-natured Baron Brandroup and both have a daughter, Christiana.
From the very first moment, Christiana treats Evelyna with rejection and contempt. This comes to a head as both girls make their society debut years later in London.
At a ball, Evelyna meets the handsome Marcus Deverell and her heart skips a beat each time she sees him. He also shows a keen interest in her, and Evelyna is finally happy.
But certain circumstances force her to marry a man old enough to be her grandfather and whom she detests from the very first moment. Only the death of her husband frees her from her marital hell. However, before she can truly relax, the Duke’s nephew, actually no stranger to Evelyna, turns up at the ancestral home. She is met by the deepest contempt, even hatred on his part.
Will he learn to look beyond her proud facade?
