Rosaline Job is not at all the usual heroine; chubby and pretty with no outstanding or peculiar physical features at all. She is the daughter of two farmhands who struggle to make ends meet in Harleton, a small town in Texas. Eric Lockwood is her manager, and also the son of John and Amelia Lockwood who are wealthy and own the store and a series of others in small towns in Texas. Eric manages to make Rosaline feels like a typical heroine and then disappears when she gets pregnant while she also loses her job. She turns to Amelia Lockwood for help, but instead, rumors and lies are spread about her, and she’s thrown out by her own parents. Pregnant and with her reputation in ruins, Rosaline leaves Harleton for Jefferson, where she’s taken in by Richard, a good young Samaritan who owned a ranch in Jefferson acquired as a result of his parents’ wealth. Richard developed feelings for Rosaline, and even though she felt the same, she rejects his hints and advances. Two years later, she has a beautiful girl named Cassie, and Eric shows up at the farmhouse asking for forgiveness and also desiring to have his daughter back. Would Rosaline forgive her first love and the father of her child, or will her broken heart be mended by Richard’s love?

This book portrays how certain events can change our lives and how love can be found far from home and in the heart of a stranger and how sometimes unusual things have the best results.
