In this steamy behind-the-scenes take on Pride & Prejudice, everyone in England is secretly engaged in shameless casual trysts, not least of whom are Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy. When the pair first meet at the Meryton Assembly, they each catch the other’s eye and indulge in a sensual liaison in the cloak room. Following their encounter, Mr. Darcy delivers his infamous set down, calling Elizabeth tolerable, but not handsome enough to tempt him. Elizabeth scoffs—she certainly had been tempting the hour before! However, she resolves not to indulge in any further carnal pleasures with a man so full of pride and arrogance. If only she can keep herself away from him.

This sensual Pride & Prejudice variation follows Jane Austen’s original plot, adding smoldering scenes between Elizabeth and Darcy into the story. While some dialogue from the original novel is included, the text is almost entirely rewritten. This 12,000-word novelette is Part One of a five-part series, covering the scenes that occur from the beginning of the original novel to the end of Elizabeth’s stay as a houseguest at Netherfield. More steamy volumes will follow.
