First Lady's Blues is about life and the problems Beth has because her husband is a playboy preacher. She tries to be a supportive and faithful wife, but her husband, Joe, can't be faithful and loyal to her. The only people Beth can confide in tell her to stay with her husband. It doesn't look good for a preacher or a pastor to get divorced. One problem the couple has is that Beth has not given Joe any children. Beth and her doctors can't find out why, so Joe has affairs and children outside of the marriage. Will Beth and Joe be able to find the love they once had or will Beth find the strength to leave. First Lady's Blues is in two parts because one book seemed too long. The trials and problems they go through took a while to work through.
