Let Me Catch Ya Vibe by Cherice Harris
Nineteen-year-old Kenyan Wells has never had an easy life growing up. Between dealing with his drug-addicted mother and trying to fend for himself, he never knew what being a kid was like. After being kicked out on the streets, Kenyan is determined to get it by any means necessary, even if it means getting his hands dirty.
Imani Mitchell has been a victim of circumstance her whole life. Her mother died of an overdose when she was a small child, and her father insists on burying himself in bottles of liquor. Dead set on being different from her parents, young Imani is determined to go to college so she can make it out. However, she finds that difficult to do when everything is constantly being thrown at her.
When Kenyan and Imani cross paths, they begin a friendship that neither one of them expected. Imani and Kenyan make a pact that they are going to do everything they can to change their environments. However, things become complicated when both of them are faced with situations they’re not sure they can get out of.
Will they be able to rely on each other to survive? Or will the young couple’s obstacles become their downfall?
