Queen Regent by I.E. Michaels
“Warwick, someday you will become king and you will have the power to make changes. You can keep the people from suffering, you can create a better world. Be a leader that is respected and not feared.”

“The King believes that fear is what these people need.”

She turns in the tub to face me. “No, fear is what causes people to act irrationally. It causes death and destruction. Educate these people, teach them the proper ways not force them. There is a difference.”

“I promise you darling, when I take control changes will be made. Our children’s generation will be educated, I will fight to win respect instead of instilling fear. The poor will stop bleeding.” Tears spill from her eyes as I pull her in for a hug. I hold my own tears back. This woman would have made a damn fine queen, one that was respected and loved by the people.
