HOPE by Jean Estelle, April Boehme
Hope follows in the story of Juniper Mikah. At seventeen years old she's forced to live underground with what is left of the world’s population. Three hundred-hundred years ago Humans destroyed the planet with the final World War; the Nuclear War. No one knows how it started or why. Or so they say. January 1st is the day that will change Juniper's life. This is the day she will join the first half of all the seventeen year olds in the compound on their way to Discovery whether they want to or not. You're never given a choice and unless you pass you're never allowed to see your family again. This is the age the Council deems you of age to go and learn in Discovery to learn something that will benefit and further the compound. You have six months to do this. Six months before the new arrivals. If you should fail? You are thrown out of the Compound to take your chances with the radiation (certain death awaited). Why should they keep you alive if you had nothing to offer them? Why waste the resources??During Juniper's time in Discovery she decides that she is going to have a secret mission; a mission to find out exactly what happened to her father two years ago when he straight vanished. She knew Jaila and the council had to be behind it. She knew this was going to be dangerous so she knew she had to go it alone. She needed to keep her mind focused. Little did Juniper know that what she was going to uncover was going to shock her to her core. With the help of Melanie and with a love that she fought tooth and nail to fight against she will discover the horrible truths behind the compound, behind Jaila.
