Coming in from the Outfield by Carrie Wiegman
Lillian Grant has a history of dating the “wrong men,” but after she breaks it off with the latest of the bunch (a full-on stalker this time), she decides once and for all: no more. For the first time in her adult life, Lillian is focusing on herself. She has a pleasantly small and amusing life in Denver, a job she loves, supportive friends and colleagues, and has even completed self-defense training. Lillian is on the up and up, surprised to find herself competing for a promotion and actually looking forward to what life brings next. She’s got a plan in place—until a simple wrong turn in a massive baseball stadium drastically alters her life.

Then comes the moment she meets Hayden McCoy. You know, the multi-year Golden Glove-winning shortstop for the Houston Aztecs. Handsome, too. That Hayden McCoy.

Hayden seems to have more press written about his dating and partying life than his on-field performance. But Lillian doesn’t know any of this—let alone who he is—when the two meet, experiencing an immediate, fierce connection. After a swoonworthy first meeting on the darkened outfield after an Aztecs game, Hayden and Lillian embark on an intense long distance relationship that pushes the limits of Lillian’s protective boundaries. Slowly, Lillian lets her guard down, enjoying being the new woman that Hayden brings out of her.

But Lillian’s afraid of what else might come out along with it.

Can Lillian’s fear of dating the wrong guy end with Hayden, or will the distance between them—and Hayden’s old reputation—come back into the picture? Can they put the past behind them and forge ahead to a higher level of commitment to each other, or is it game over?
