An Untameable Zebra: A story of love, hate, revenge and goats ... by Louise Clover
When she was snogging David Cassidy posters, Clem Peters, of Garston - the exotic suburb in the jewel of Watford - had limited aspirations. After a childhood where she was routinely mistaken for a boy, followed by a cornucopia of failed boyfriend attempts, this BBC clerk finally nabs herself a pretty decent bloke; probably out of her league, and produces twin sons, who she also deems as being out of her league. Subsequently, as her life zigzags between the absurd and the farcical, one day it completely implodes, and she is left bereft and bitter … but suddenly full of resolve.

Recalling a band of untameable entertainers she’d encountered in Greece twenty years before, Clem abandons the dregs of the mess she’s made of her life, hops on that cliché, and runs away to the Ionian’s only circus at sea: The Untameable Zebra - led by the inimitable Captain Red.

However, deep down, this middle-aged housewife knows that she has some reconciliation to do with those she has left behind - the real untameables in her life.
