The Latina and The Drunken Guru; for love and politics by Jeffrey M. Freeman
Jack Rutledge is different. He has one foot in the conventional world, the other in the paranormal. He is a retired Army lieutenant colonel with a drinking problem; cynical, spiritual but anti-religious. He makes a living by investigating high-profile people for corporations or the federal government. He spends a lot of time meditating on a mountain or on a large rock on a small island in a river in Northeast Tennessee. He uses astrology, hypnosis, astral projection, age regression, Tarot cards, and Mala beads. Jack is the only person who thinks he is a guru. Jimmy is either Jack’s guardian angel or just a voice in Jack’s head.
Donna Esposito is Jack’s opposite; young, beautiful, sophisticated and Catholic. She is the daughter of the White House Chief of Staff. When they meet in Washington, sparks and bullets fly.
The White House hires Jack to investigate his old Army boss from the Iraq War, Cole Kasey. Kasey is being considered to run a clandestine operation. The White House won’t tell Jack what the operation is; he’ll have to discover that on his own.
In the year leading up to the election, political and racial tensions run high. Jack will only have six days to dig up any potential dirt on Kasey; if he can stay sober long enough and not get killed in the process.
