No Offense by Francesca D'Armata

Steely Paupher is in eighth grade when her father is tragically killed, sending ripples throughout her entire family. Her mother is so traumatized by the loss that she falls into a deep depression. With her mother unable to support the family, Steely sets out to find a job. Her search will take her into the world of illegal narcotics, which is only the beginning of her troubles.

Despite being betrayed by the people she cared about, Steely never gives up. She doesn’t let the mistakes she made as a young teenager stop her from seeking a better future. After another tragedy rocks the family, Steely heads off for college at Texas Tech. Even while living in a homeless shelter, she keeps up with her studies. As a junior, Steely meets David Hunter, the handsome scion of a wealthy family involved in the oil industry. The two marry, and Steely’s adventure truly begins. There is something wrong with the Hunter family and their company, and Steely is determined to get to the bottom of it.

Readers will love Francesca D’Armata’s feisty heroine, who doesn’t let herself be offended by anything. Instead, she follows the path forward with hope and bravery.
