Streamwalker by Greg Johnson
“Trap” is a marine biologist who walks beautiful salmon streams in the rugged Pacific Northwest for an environmental consulting firm. His workplace, however, is racist. Being part Native American, bigotry takes a toll on his morale, causing moments of raw anger. At the end of a remote survey he asks his fellow Streamwalker about youth coaching. Unsure of himself, Trap reluctantly agrees that coaching might help him clear his mind. At his first soccer practice Trap is stunned by a group of teens that appear like a gift of fate… an ethnic blend of youths without prejudice. They show Trap a promise of integration that will help him at work and change him forever. And yet, with the help of a pretty but troubled soccer mom, Trap will face challenges he never imagined.
