When James stopped believing: A story of love, lies and honesty by Matthew King
What does a young church minister do when he stops believing? Struck by the conviction that his faith is just wishful thinking, James has important decisions to make. Following the Bishop’s advice to take his time, life becomes increasingly uncomfortable for James as he struggles with living a lie. And things get more complicated with the arrival of his brother who has dark secrets of his own.
James finds great solace in his regular coffee chats with local journalist Alice, but her suspicion that James is hiding something puts a huge strain on their relationship, made worse by her fascination with James’ brother. The pressure of organising church events as well as covering for his brother weighs heavily on James until a shocking event brings things to a head.
Will James rediscover his faith? Is it time for him to be honest with Alice? James must confront both issues as he considers the values that will shape his future - just how important are truth and love?
