What happens when four, single 60-something American women rent a vacation apartment in Tuscany and a fifth friend surprises them by showing up on their doorstep? She is, of course, welcomed by the others, but there’s a problem: The apartment has very strict rules — only four overnight guests are allowed. Their wine-inspired way around this is for each woman to leave for one night without prior arrangements, find an adventure and return the next day — with full disclosure.

Their escapades involve a wild boar, a wilder party, unlikely romance and a “La Dolce Vita” moment. Ultimately, these experiences not only change their lives, but also the lives of many others as they end up bringing new life to a dying town. Along the way, they learn surprising new things about themselves and each other, and about life in Italy.
