Touch of Death: A science Fiction Romance Murder Mystery by Kim Lark

Firefly meets Agents of Shield with Romance in this sci-fi, alien-packed, murder mystery.

Dr. Danny Greene has reasons for not working with the Corporate Department of Intergalactic Investigations. Number one being she’s pretty sure she’s high on their Most Wanted list. Under a different name, of course. From a life among aliens. But she’s built a new life, with a career as an esper expert. Which is exactly why they’re desperate to hire her.

An esper, someone born with alien powers, is hunting other espers, his trademark method particularly barbaric and strange. And the CDI is crunched for time–if they don’t solve this case soon, they’ll be disbanded.

Danny’s old name isn’t the only secret she carries… not only is she an expert on espers, she is one. Sure, being able to see the last living hours of a dead body has its uses, but it’s not one she’s super excited about. And the agonizing pain she feels when touching the living? That’s no farqi “gift.” It’s a curse.

There’s only one person whose touch doesn’t cause her pain… the intriguing, deep voiced, and too attractive Cooper Travis, who just happens to work for the CDI. Only he could addle her senses so much that she agrees to a bet that puts her in their employ, with caveats for her protection, of course.

But Danny isn’t the only one with secrets and a dark past…

As the team gets closer to the killer, Danny and Cooper get closer to each other, discovering they both carry dark secrets... secrets they will need to deal with before they can start to imagine a future together…

If you love complex characters with dark backstories, sentient space-ships, slow-burn romance, and fast-paced whodunits, then you'll adore Kim Lark's astronomical adventure.
