Of Pine and Fire by Lachlan Dean Crawford
Of Pine and Fire, is an exciting fantasy romance that gives readers a new take on Norse mythology and the concepts of reincarnation, religion, and magic. The romance follows a similar thread to Lauren Kate while giving Old Norse characters new life a la Joanne M. Harris in her Gospel of Loki.

When Dominic Tyler is released from jail, he finds himself homeless, friendless, and jobless. All of that changes when he meets Hanna Grayson, a successful business woman who he swears that he has met before. Strange things begin to happen after Hanna offers him a job at her company, and they both begin to suspect that they’ve known each other before.

Days after Dominic enters her life, Hanna begins to acquire strange powers and notices that she can now conduct energy through her hands and talk to Dominic telepathically, which he claims to have been able to do for most of his life. Hanna, all-around good girl , also finds out that Dominic went to jail for being part of a drug ring whose lord is known for controlling his lackeys with magic. This same drug lord now wants Dominic back in his rings and will spare no expense to get to him.

As if this wasn’t strange enough, they soon find out that their lives are both in danger because they are also being hunted by Loki, the Norse Trickster god, who claims to have given them both their magic in a previous life.

This is a story of love across time, magic, and learning to fight your own inner demons. Set in a world of magic and violence, Of Pine and Fire also explores the inner workings of the human mind, following Dominic’s struggles with PTSD and Hanna’s own battles with depression and anxiety. Fate and destiny throw these two seemingly unconnected people into a world where they not only have to fight for their own safety, and sanity, but for the survival of the entire world.
