There’s something about Laurel that Lane has always been drawn to, but as a middle schooler he couldn’t quite figure out why. He watched her walk home every day from the bus stop, wishing he could join her in her mysterious treehouse she seemed to spend all her time in. Lane's life changed in an instant and it all began with a bucket list and a treehouse. Now, a decade later, Lane and Laurel are in an accident and Lane can’t shake the guilt he feels for hurting Laurel so badly, so much so that he does everything he can to avoid he. To flee from his mistakes and guilt, Lane decides to move from his beach town home in New England across the country to Seattle, Washington at the end of the summer. While packing, he stumbles upon their old bucket list and quickly realizes that he can’t run away from Laurel or his biggest regret.
