A Crown of Burning Light by Kendall Genz

Elia Ambrose, the heir to the Aldridge throne, was doomed.

Her fate was sealed long before she was born. War raged between two rivaling kingdoms for decades before the Goddesses brought down gruesome curses in order to stop the downfall of the country. The only way to break these curses? A union between the first heirs of each kingdom. It was Elia’s fate to marry the prince of Eloria and reunite the country of Aienne once and for all.

But fate has a funny way of making a person desperate to change their future.

As her impending nuptials approach, Elia is faced with two options: marry the gruesome Warren Driscol, famously known for his lack of compassion and deadly skills, or journey to a dangerous island in search for the one thing that can bring back what was once lost— an ancient relic that could restore her peoples magic and break the curses laid upon the kingdoms for good. If it even existed.

As Elia and her group of companions trek across the country and sea, the princess of Aldridge is faced with grueling challenges; like having to deal with Warren for an extended period of time. But the adventure before them is not the only problem that arises. Soon, Elia is not only faced with life altering decisions, but her world begins to unravel all together as new information and unseemly alliances are made. Will the improbable pair free themselves of a promise made against their will, or fall into the depths of despair and marriage?
