Chores for Gott by Naomi Troyer

A tale of loss, love, and hope.

Eve lost her husband five years ago. David, her son, had only been five years old at the time. Since then, Eve has focused all her energy on making ends meet and being a good mother.

Michael Hauptfleisch lost his wife and son in an accident ten years ago. Struggling to move on, Michael has held onto his grief and became a recluse. It was easier to nurture his anguish than to bid his memories farewell.

When Eve’s son David overhears a conversation about Michael Hauptfleisch and his hermit ways, David empathizes and wants to help. He prays for guidance and soon begins on a journey of doing chores for Gott. Through these chores, he hopes to help Michael overcome his grief.

David’s journey of chores for Gott is short-lived. Instead of turning his back on the man who chastened him for his kindness, David enlists the help of his mother to nurse Michael back to health.

Chores for Gott encompass a journey of loss and love. You are taken on an emotional roller coaster as you see grief through the eyes of a young boy and experience it through the heart of a man who has lost everything.

Through faith, Michael, David and Eve work through difficult challenges to find their happily ever after.
