Knight's Bane by Kirk Mason
William was just a simple villager: milking cows, tending fields, and dodging his mother's wooden spoon.

Circumstances found him fending off goblins with a shovel, fighting side by side with a damn prince. Next, he kneeled before the king, and a sword was tapped over his shoulders. William had hoped for a monetary reward, not to be made a knight!

Someone else was in the forbidden forest that night, witnessing his prowess with interest. They’d later watch him wield a sword, wearing blood-soaked armor adorned with a virgin crest.

William was on an important quest. As if fighting the barbarian army wasn’t enough.

In a manor, hidden in the forest, Beatrice was tormented by her clan-family. They mocked her solitude and her refusal to drink human blood.

Like a princess trapped in a tower, she whiled away the time playing the piano, reading, and longing. But she was no princess, just a lady from a forgotten house.

One fateful night away from the manor, she wondered who the oaf was bumbling through herforest, assaulting goblins and seeking witches for a fool's errand. Beatrice’s clan-family would not be pleased to learn of her new interest.

And how would William complete his quest, despite its obvious hopelessness?

They might help each other…

Knight’s Bane features a sweet, monogamous romance arc and some sizzling scenes. There’s humor, heart, battles, shovels, and a few adorably fluffy familiars.
