Reaper's Property by Joanna Wylde
I Think I Liked It? The humor was great, and while I didn’t like Horse, (too bossy and controlling for my taste), I looooved Marie and her love for her brother, and the love that grew from learning about the club, and bonding with the old ladies.
The humor was great, and while I didn’t like Horse, (too bossy and controlling for my taste), I looooved Marie and her love for her brother, and the love that grew from learning about the club, and bonding with the old ladies. (wish there had been even more bonding time with all the ladies, but the story has to move on)
Now the down sides, it was very—pardon me for this, rapey...ya. It’s a dark romance ladies, about Marie being given the option of saving her brother’s life by sacrificing her body to Horse who, as Horse put it so eloquently, (paraphrasing a bit) ‘wants to fuck her more then he wants to kill her brother...’ so she agrees to go “willingly” with Horse, and within a few months, with them being in such close quarters constantly and living together, they bond, and that is why I said I think I like it. Because I did, except for that GIANT plot point, but luckily, Horse never does anything untoward Marie...until they have a Fucken HUGE blow out and have some of the most—intense and horrifying sex I’ve ever read, but that is somehow still consentual(?) and what they both needed(?)...All that aside, I’m not sure if I want to read the rest of the series, because from what I’ve heard they are just as problematic, and I like my sex fully consensual with no maybes or what ifs hanging over head.
(And a little more story would be amazing, that way the story and sexy times would be a little better balanced out, because the sex scenes were just—everywhere very sporadically, and because I don’t like Horse, I mostly skipped over them...and being a lesbian reading this, I was more open to criticizing it and just horrified by what straights imagine good sex is. Fantasy or not, I’m judging.)
