It’s an insular community and home to a lot of strange happenings. It’s also home to the Greensmith family. Rumor has it that they’re a family of witches. The rumors are right. Rowen Greensmith moved away to escape her crazy family. She has her own place and a job in tabloid journalism. Things aren’t perfect, but she’s hopeful they’ll improve. When Rowen’s Aunt Lydia calls her with news of a murder, all of that is turned on its head. During the annual Greensmith family yard sale, Rowen’s Aunt Nadine sold a chest that turned out to have a dead body in it. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the woman she sold it to has turned up dead! It’s a juicy story, and once Rowen’s boss catches wind of it, Rowen is put on the case. Now Rowen is thrown back into the life she tried to escape. Everyone in the town of Lainwich remembers her, even the ones she rather wishes didn’t. The only total stranger is a handsome businessman who’s new to town. Unfortunately, he has motives all his own. If Rowen wants to save her family, she’s going to have to solve not one, but two murders. First, though, she’s going to have to deal with the police, suspicious locals, and her crazy family. Knowing Lainwich, there’s a decent chance she’s going to have to deal with quite a bit of the supernatural as well. Rowen is about to be thrown into one of the most hectic weekends of her life. She’ll be lucky if she can make it out in one piece. Novella (approx. 20,000 words). Romance is CLEAN. First Volume of the "Lainswich Witches" Series. It is a standalone (reading further volumes not required to enjoy the book). less

It’s the house of Rowen’s dreams, a place she fell in love with the moment she laid eyes on it. Things are going great. Lainswich is getting ready for their annual marathon. Her aunts are opening a New Age store. Rowen’s own career and love life couldn’t be running any more smoothly than they are. Of course, things never stay calm in Rowen’s life for long. The arrival of a stray dog sparks a mystery. The more poking around Rowen does, the more she begins to suspect that something is amiss in this dream house of hers. Everyone says the Woodwards who owned the house last moved to Florida, but no one ever really leaves Lainswich for good. A certain presence in the shed has Rowen certain that something horrible must have happened to the Woodwards. Are they even still alive? Rowen’s friends and family all say she’s just looking for a mystery. They could be right, or it could be something more. Either way, there are questions and they need answering. And Rowen is going to have to answer those questions fast. Her list of suspects is a short one. It’s just her luck that her cousin Peony would fall for one of the men on that list. Life takes a sharp turn when a camera man from Channel 2 News turns up in an open grave. The Lainswich Inquirer has never been on the best terms with Channel 2 and its head correspondent, Julia Martinez. The best Rowen can hope for is to report on the murder from a distance… At least, until Seraphina Hawthorne steps into Greensmith Investigations one stormy night. Seraphina Hawthorne is the wife of Darren Hawthorne, news director at Channel 2. She’s a real piece of work, but she’s also a paying customer. Darren is cheating on her, she says, and she wants Rowen and her husband to prove it. This gives Rowen the perfect opportunity to poke around the goings on at Channel 2. Deadly Desserts and Dark Secrets (Lainswich Witches #8)
Raven Snow
Rated: 4.50 of 5 starsTo say that Rowen Greensmith has a large family would be an understatement. The Greensmiths are a large clan and a tight-knit bunch. Sure, her grandmother is in prison for a crime she committed decades ago, but even without her, the family has stuck together through the toughest of times. And some trying times are certainly ahead of them now. Normally, a couple of adult women moving out on their own wouldn’t be cause for alarm. In the Greensmith household, it’s tantamount to a travesty... moreTo say that Rowen Greensmith has a large family would be an understatement. In the Greensmith household, it’s tantamount to a travesty. Rowen’s cousins are striking out on their own, spreading their wings, and leaving the nest. Her aunts are just beside themselves and tensions between cousins are running high. With all this drama in her personal life, a murder was definitely not what Rowen needed! Unfortunately, this being Lainswich, it’s what she gets. When an inmate collapses at Lainswich Correctional, a poisoning seems to be to blame. But why was this woman murdered? And was she even the intended victim? At least Rowen’s grandmother is another inmate at the prison and always ready and willing to help the family in whatever way she can. Now Rowen just has to get her cousins to stop bickering long enough to solve this thing. Never mind that their rivals at Channel 2 News are making life as a bunch of journalists harder for them. Being a Greensmith is great and all, but geez is it stressful. Eighth Volume of the Lainswich Witches Mystery Series. Approx. 50,000 words in length. It is a standalone (reading prior or future volumes not required to enjoy the book, no cliffhanger). less

Old Flames (Lainswich Witches #9)
Raven Snow
Rated: 4.50 of 5 starsWhen a family friend is murdered, it falls to Rowen Greensmith to crack the case. The whole family is upset, and why shouldn’t they be? In Lainswich, a friend of the Greensmiths is a rare thing indeed. They like to keep as many of those in the land of the living as possible. On the other hand, they have plenty of enemies. They could certainly do with one less of those when a Stonewell shows up in town. The Stonewells have always been the natural enemies of the Greensmiths... moreWhen a family friend is murdered, it falls to Rowen Greensmith to crack the case. The Stonewells have always been the natural enemies of the Greensmiths. They’re another family of witches, one that moved away from Lainswich quite some time ago. So what are they doing back now? Worse than that, Flint Stonewell is an old flame of Rowen’s. Surely he’s only here to make her life more complicated. It’s like he can just sense the fact that she and her husband have been bickering over the most minor things lately. Now she has to worry about mending her relationship on top of solving a murder. And that’s only if she can keep the rest of her family from killing Flint first. Rowen will count herself lucky if she makes it to the other side of this one. Solve a murder, try to right a family feud that goes back generations, repair her marriage, and oh yeah, find the guardian spirits that have decided to up and abandon her family at, perhaps, the worst possible time. Work is just never done when you’re a Greensmith witch. Nineth Volume of the Lainswich Witches Mystery Series. Approx. 50,000 words in length. It is a standalone (reading prior or future volumes not required to enjoy the book, no cliffhanger). less

Like Peony’s apparent talent for painting. Who knew she was capable of something like that? Not Rowen! When Peony’s art is accepted into a local art show, everyone is thrilled. It’s high time some recognition came Peony’s way. The art world may be fickle and snooty, but Peony has been handling herself wonderfully. Rowen and the rest of the family couldn’t be prouder.
