They had already finished eating lunch and were back at her house seated on the sofa. Steven wanted to talk without all of the surrounding noises in a busy restaurant. She ran her eyes over him. He favored his brothers but to Vanessa’s way of thinking, Steven was better looking. Of course you had to take into consideration that she was just a little bias. He had the cutest little dimple in his right cheek and those full lips were made for kissing. He stood well over six feet tall and had the body of a man who worked out on a regular basis. Steven had been talking for several minutes but had a feeling Vanessa had not heard a word he said. She had this faraway look in her eyes and smiled at him every once in a while. He remembers her doing the same thing the day of Alan’s wedding when they first met. That’s when he knew she was as into him as he was into her. Because he knew minutes after meeting her that she would come to mean a lot to him. She started an inferno in him that hadn’t even begun to burn out, even though they hadn’t seen much of each other in the last few months. He cleared his throat. “If you keep looking at me like that you’re going to miss work and I’m going to be late for my meeting.” Vanessa blushed at being caught up. “I don’t know what you mean.” A sly grin spread across his face. “I think I know when I’m being ogled. Don’t worry. I think it’s only fair.” “What do you mean?” “I like looking at you too, Doc.” “Is that right?” “Oh, yes. You even make those hospital scrubs look good.” Vanessa stood and Steven followed suit. She looked up at him. “Now I know you’re pulling my leg. Those things are horrible.” Steven wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close. Vanessa automatically rested her hands on his broad shoulders. She had on heels and he still had several inches on her. “You and I have talked a lot over the past months. One of the first things I told you was that I always say what I mean. When I tell you that you look good in scrubs just say thank you.” “Thank you.” “That’s better.” He leaned down and kissed her thoroughly and completely. Vanessa’s slender arms slid around his neck bringing her snug against his chest. Steven’s body tightened in response to the sounds she was making in the back of her throat. She was acting as though this kiss was the best thing she’d ever had. Vanessa molded her body to Steven’s muscled frame. They were so close not an inch of space could be found between them. She was sucking on Steven’s tongue as if she never intended to let it go. It took her a minute to realize the sounds she could hear on some level of conscientious were coming from her. She was moaning as if she was in pain, but for Vanessa this was all pleasure. In Steven’s arms she could only find pleasure. He took over the kiss again and she burrowed deeper in his arms. Never had a kiss taken over her senses and made her lose sight of everything else. Steven groaned and lifted his head. "I would love to stay here with you for the rest of the afternoon but I have to go. I have some work to finish before my meeting this evening and you have to go to your office." That being said, he and Vanessa still had their arms around each other. Neither one wanting to let go of the other. Vanessa kissed the side of his mouth and gave a long sigh. She leaned back and looked into his eyes. “If we must, we must.” Steven smiled at her reluctance to leave him. less
