The man is a widower and single parent of two sons and a daughter, with friends describing him as a man who holds to old-fashioned values, a hard worker, and a strict but loving parent. He doesn’t have much time for anything except his family and the ranch, but when he meets pretty Dee Cortlin and her son, something is reawakened that he had thought was long since dead. But old habits die hard and change is not easy for him, especially since he still loves his wife with all his heart.
