Home Station by Jeanne Williams
Lesley Morland's father, Ed, has a weakness for alcohol and trouble holding down a job. So when he is offered a job as station manager in Bountiful, Kansas, the opportunity comes as a chance for a fresh start. The town is on railroad magnate Adam Benedict's proposed line to Texas. Before long, streets are being built, stores and homes are going up, and new residents are arriving, transforming Bountiful into a thriving community. But tragedy strikes, and Lesley must assume her father's role as station master.
