Theresa is assigned to write about Rory Cox Jr. so they spend a great deal of time together. He starts attending church soon after his arrival in Jackson. He is hunted by the media because he’s predicted to be an all-star as his father was. Rory is drawn to Theresa’s Christian values. She puts her family first, which he admires also.

Conflict enters when a hurricane hits Jackson. Rory helps rebuild the town and begins to think of it as home. Ben tries to convince him that a career in baseball is his destiny. He is faced to choose between life in Jackson or baseball, which promises fame and money. Biblical passages are used throughout where appropriate King James Version (KGV)

Characters:

Heroine – Theresa Pence 23 years old lives in Jackson MA, which is a small town on Cape Cod. Single with no children. Writes for the local weekly paper and attends Jackson Community Church regularly. Black hair, violet eyes. Her parents died but her four brothers and the church make her ties to the community strong.

Hero – Rory Cox Jr. 23 years old in Jackson for the summer. He is an excellent baseball player who has sought out a place to stay. Wants some peace and quiet before he joins MLB. Brown hair, green eyes and in excellent shape. Likes Jackson and he’s immediately drawn to Theresa.

Pastor Nat Reid – The backbone of the community. Father figure to Theresa.

Janey Reid – Pastors wife.

Protagonist – Ben Romero 45. Not a nice man. Interested in getting as much money as possible out of Rory.

Pence Brothers – 3 older than Theresa, 1 younger. Good group of guys who want the best for Theresa. The older men are all married and bring nieces and nephews into the mix. The youngest brother will be the first to go to college.
