Mail Order Bride: The Desperate Maid's Gold Miner Rescue by Emma Morgan
Evelyn Kimball enjoys her life as a housemaid at the Macarthur’s estate, so she is heartbroken when she learns she has been hired away to another house, run by a cruel man. Desperate, she travels west as a mail order bride, and soon has found her new home in the mountains of California. But she is reluctant to marry so soon, and asks to wait a brief while before the decision to wed is made.

Austin Gorman has only been working his claim for a short time, but he is ready to build a home. His is also a good man, and he agrees to let Evelyn be free to make up her mind as she will. However, his time on his gold claim keeps him away from home for long hours, and instead of growing closer, they find themselves living as strangers in the tiny house.

But love will have its way, and their hearts begin to thaw as the winter snows pile outside—until bad news from home threatens their blooming happiness …
