I Hate That I Love You by Natisha Raynor
At the age of fifteen, Chill commits a crime that sends him to a juvenile detention center. Locked away for seven years, he comes home to a new era. New music, new clothes, new cellphones, all the trends are foreign to him, especially the way his best friend Black blows money. Chill does the right thing by completing job applications every day, but when not one person calls him for an interview, Chill takes matters into his own hands. The one thing that did remain constant during his incarceration was letters and cards from his childhood crush, Angela. Though Angela is all grown up now with a child of her own, it's quickly recognized that the chemistry is still there, but being that Chill was raised by the system, he's not sure he has what it takes to be the man that she needs.

Black is hot headed, impulsive, and gangsta, but he's also generous. Taking care of so many people has him always plotting on a come up, and when it's time to strike, Black is never scared. His impulsiveness however, starts an all out war between a local gang, and tension heats up in the streets. Black also discovers that his long time girlfriend isn't who he thought she was, and he begins to commit a string of crimes that causes a chain reaction of violence. Black is the true epitome of gangsta, but will that very trait be the cause of his demise?
