Things were finally starting to go my way. Everything was perfect. My job, my relationship with Carter and most importantly, the positive pregnancy test.

However, when I showed up on Monday morning to tell him the good news, I overheard Carter and some random girl arguing about her pregnancy. A baby that she claims is his. Even though the circumstances were different, it makes me feel unsure of where I stood in Carter's life. If he could treat her like that, couldn't he treat me the same? How was I any different?

However, I tried not to let that bother me. And when he invited me to a fancy gala, I jumped at the opportunity to spend more time with him. Now, sitting on the biggest secret of my life.
