Red Bird: Cherokee of North Carolina by Chey Wells
Red Bird is an Iroquois warrior living in the Cherokee village in the mountains of North Carolina. He gets his love from the Iroquois Cayuga village and brings her back to the Cherokee village. He makes her many promises of how wonderful their lives will be. He will teach her the Cherokee language so she will feel comfortable in her new village. He promises her that they will be together always. When they get back to the Cherokee village, he forgets all the promises he made her and helps his brother warriors as he always did when he was single.

Wild Dove waited many summers for Red Bird to come and get her. She knew he was not ended as the old chief said. She knew she would feel it if he was no more. She kept to herself and stayed close to her father during this time. Finally, when the old chief is ended by the new chief, Red Bird comes to get her. She was so happy, and they joined that night. She is thrilled that he is with her and feels good about the new village. They travel with some that are moving to the Cherokee village to be with their daughter and she makes friends with them.

When they get to the village Wild Dove is excited at the houses that are nothing like their own long lodges. She cannot wait to start their life together. She soon finds out that Red Bird is so busy helping others in the village that he does not have time for her. This hurts her heart.
Will Wild Dove put up with the way Red Bird is acting? Will he get it together before he loses her? These questions will be answered in the book. I hope you enjoy it.
