Abby Simpson is a young Christian woman who lives in Boston. Her husband recently passed away, and she has more than a few surprises that she is carrying and looking for help with.

She still feels upset about her late husband, but she feels marrying someone new might help her get over it. She buys the last copy of The Matrimonial Times in a local store and believes that becoming a mail-order bride is God’s answer to her problems.

Daniel Flynn is a gold prospector that works with his family in the Dakota Territory. He is a bit of a recluse and prefers to work most of the time. Various surprises surround him as well. He is uncertain if marriage will ever be in his future.
