Conventionality doesn’t come easily to Pan Fontenot. She has abandoned her medical aspirations after losing a patient on the operating table. Pan’s current plan is to pursue a traditional life in Union occupied New Orleans.

Despite her plans, unexpected opportunities to practice medicine keep affording themselves. Orphaned children. Working class families. Prisoners of war. With so much at risk, Pan needs to focus on staying under the Union radar.

Fin Weathers is intent on winning the upcoming City Council election to help restore peace to his military governed community. The lovely doctor with a bundle of nervous energy has him intrigued, but it’s the wrong time for the reckless pursuit of a respectable lady.

Pan’s covert adventures and Fin’s campaign keep bringing these two risk takers together. For them, daring to fall in love may be the biggest risk of all.
