That Summer: Track One (Anthology: Stories Inspired by Country Music) by Sonja Heisinger

Deep in south Texas, Kate Moses has three problems: her husband is dead, her farm is short-handed, and her insufferable brother Jon has gone and hired a teenaged boy for the summer. It’s almost been a year since Kate was widowed, and even though she’s still relatively young, she doesn’t have the time, patience, or emotional energy to micro-manage a college-bound kid.

But after settling into the apartment above the barn, Taylor Eaton begins to defy all of Kate’s low expectations. Sensitive, courteous, and hardworking, he makes her feel beautiful and alive, and she finds herself opening up to him despite his youth… and his innocence.

Inspired by Garth Brooks’ timeless hit, That Summer is a sweeping romance that captures the power of love after death, while celebrating the rugged and bewitching beauty of Texas.

Fans of Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings will love this contemporary western, told with the elegant and heart wrenching prose reminiscent of Robert James Waller’s The Bridges of Madison County.

“Excellent… some of the dialogue reminded me of Cormac McCarthy’s Border Trilogy, which I loved.” - Nick Earls, award-winning author of the Wisdom Tree series.

About the author:

A California native, Sonja Heisinger has lived and traveled all over the world. She published her first novel, the inspirational For He Is Summer, when she was just twenty years old. A few years later, she lost both her parents in a car accident, and her brother shortly after. To make sense of her grief, she began to draw and write voraciously. Today she is a professional artist - follow her on Instagram @sonjartsinger - and author of the bestselling Liberty Hill series, a romantic drama set during the California Gold Rush. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and two sons, and there's nothing she loves more than her family, two-stepping, freshly brewed French Press, and a good glass of red wine.

In 2020, she combines her affection for country music with her intimate knowledge of love and loss in a moving short story collection, Anthology, which will be released to Kindle month by month, story by story. Follow her on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for news, release dates, and exclusive content.
