The story goes on!
Sloane and Adrian find an injured Julien in the college auditorium. He claims to have been attacked by Sloane’s dad. Even though she’s skeptic at first, she believes him. In an attempt to find more about her connection and her being the Englot, Sloane grills Adrian who confesses in the middle of the conversation that he loves her.

Sloane’s mother warns her to come home but she doesn’t.
At Sasha’s house, her dad James finds Sloane and attempts to remove her from the property. He has a gun on him. But thankfully Adrian arrives to save her. However, her dad’s bullet accidentally hits her chest and Sloane collapses. In an attempt to revive her, Adrian gives her his own blood by cutting himself even though he’s not allowed to do it.

Sloane arrives home to find that Mathesan has taken over it and claims to have taken his mother hostage. He further tells her about her dark past. The truth comes to light. She’s the incarnation of Matisir. After she killed her own brother, she was forced to repeat the cycle of birth again and again and the Shifters have been searching for her for centuries. Sloane realizes that Adrian kept a part of the prophecy from her.

When he arrives to help her, Sloane knocks them both out using a new mysterious power. Unable to grasp what’s going on, Sloane panics and runs where she runs into her college professor. And here comes the biggest shock of all. Her parents, her professor and even her employer Mr. Walt are associated with a mysterious organization called the Watchers. The book ends as Sloane receives a call from Sasha telling her that her Dad has been arrested for the murder of Mrs. Newton.
