The Arranged Marriage: A Romantic Comedy by Shivali Atal
This short story is a light-hearted, humorous look at the rather ‘thorny’ subject of Arranged Marriage.
It follows the hilarious tale of Simran, a girl from India, and Jazz, a Canadian of Indian origin, who are brought together in the somewhat tenuous bond of an Arranged Marriage. While, Simran is mostly fine with this arrangement, this does not work for Jazz and his Canadian girlfriend, Emily. To complicate, matters further is the rather larger than life presence of Jazz’s Mother or Mummyji, who desperately wants to get him a bride from India.
Will the ‘Arranged Marriage’ work out? What about Jazz and Emily? Find out more by reading the tale that will make you ‘laugh out loud’ or ‘pull your hair out’, possibly at the same time.
