The Vampire's Promise - A Sweet Paranormal Romance by Clementine Lucas
Jane has wanted to be an archaeologist since she was a little girl. Uncovering the footsteps of an ancient culture, connecting to someone that lived centuries before - it's her drive, her passion. Only, the artifacts she digs up don't usually get up and walk away.

You would never think that soft, gentle Augustus is a vampire, but to protect his new found family, he would become worse. As a young man in the 18th century, he slips from shadow to shadow, begging and stealing and infiltrating, whatever will help feed those he loves. But the supernatural world is more dangerous than he expects - one wrong step, and he walks into an ambush.

He revives three centuries later in a coffin in the ground, a dying woman in his arms. Understandably, he panics.

Jane wakes up half drained of blood, a strange man in archaic clothing offering her iron supplements. She needs to find out what he is, and what he wants of her, and fast! But with each word he speaks, he becomes ever more intriguing. Instead of threatening her like any normal murderer-kidnapper would, he lets her go. He's kind, and sweet, and Jane feels her curiosity begin to supersede her sanity. Could he truly be more than just a monster?

This is a stand alone short story with a HEA and no cheating. It’s a soft, sweet romance with a kind and gentle male lead, plus a heroine who can stand on her own two feet.
