One night, just as the full moon rises over the Lune River, a bloodcurdling howl echoes through her adopted Appalachian mountains. A mythical creature bursts from the forest and tests every belief she holds dear. Wearing an identical Egyptian ankh pendant, the beast savagely attacks her date then turns to her.

She survives but lives in terror, knowing it's still out there, waiting for another chance—until the local sheriff helps her discover her true heritage and reveals why that creature let her live.
