The Porter Rockwell Chronicles, Vol. 4 By Richard Lloyd Dewey by Richard L. Dewey
Volume 4 continues the epic story, revealing the first 10 years Porter Rockwell lives in Utah. There, he joyously reunites with his daughter Emily, who flees her mother and stepfather to come west to live with him.

With the U.S. Army invading their new territory, he courageously leads a band of guerilla fighters to face a huge invading force with surprising results.

He also enters a new phase of adventures as U.S. Deputy Marshal.

But then his world turns upside down. He meets a new woman, falls for her, and boldly competes for her attention against other, much younger, men.

The result creates new problems with daughter Emily, who makes a terrible choice to both get her way and prove her independence. (Her strange journeys are historically documented.) But Porter does not give up on her, and it pays off.

Porter meanwhile determines to place the love he has for the new woman above his duty, and to learn from his past mistakes, but he finds the balancing act difficult, as so many depend on him to keep the peace in the lawless Wild West. His inner turmoil is enhanced by his inner need to be wild and free. Additionally, he does not give up fighting the issues that plague him since his early years.

The story comes to a satisfying conclusion
