Boy in Blue by Avery Evans
When Adam met Sydney, all he wanted to do was kill her boyfriend.

He didn't think he was asking for too much. Not after considering what Riley Partin did. The blood on East 5th Street wasn’t even dry yet before Adam started fantasizing about making New York City’s newest cop killer suffer through the same fate his partner did.

Adam knew exactly how he would do it, too. A bullet in the throat. No mess, no fuss. Okay, there'd be a little mess, but it'd be simple. Easy. An eye for an eye.

He couldn't tell Sydney any of that though. Adam needed her help tracking down Partin and it was hard enough to convince her to help a cop as is. The icy, disinterested blonde already nurtured a natural born aversion toward authority and as a NYPD officer, Adam had a way of inflaming it to full blown paranoia.

But as the weeks pass and Adam spends more time with Sydney, the farther away Partin is beginning to seem to either of them. And they could blame it on the record setting heat wave or on the heat of the moment, but whatever's happening between Adam and Sydney comes with consequences more fatal than either realize.

Because for such a blue-blooded cop, falling in love with a cop killer's girlfriend was the last thing Adam should have done.
