Dr. Jenna Novak’s arrival in the small town of Serenity is a baptism by fire, when an accident on the highway forces her to use her emergency medical skills before she even takes up duty at the medical center.

Losing a critically injured crash victim at the site wins her no fans, and Fire Chief Logan Cooper doubts her capabilities. Yet, no matter how irritating she finds him, he turns out to be a steady point of reference as she begins to navigate her new surroundings and meet the friendly and not-so-friendly oddballs who live in the town.

When a runaway Burmese python invades her shower as she stands there naked, it’s Logan who hears her screams and comes running.
