A Nickel and A Trinket by Max Watson
A nickel and a trinket…small price for a second chance at life.

Stefan has the ability to know the time someone will die. With Uncle David and his husband the business-savvy Barry, together they tour the world ridding people of their fear of death—save for that one minute every day. But anarchy ensues, a cult is formed with Stefan as their de facto leader, and then he finds himself in the midst of a missing persons investigation. Is Stefan a gifted prophet as his followers believe, or is he a serial killing cult leader with a god complex?

Desda has a dark past. Working the streets from a young age under the name Mona, she is now determined to save others from the fate she suffered as a child. With a special ability of her own, the ability to know if someone is about to commit suicide and by what method, she uses her special talent to save as many lives as she can. But soon, saving sex traffic victims by night and suicidal people by day has her drained in the desperate attempt to atone for the one she couldn’t save.

Stefan’s and Desda’s shared past brings them back together at the peak of the missing persons investigation. But with doubts of her own about Stefan’s innocence and a secret Desda’s long kept hidden from her former lover and childhood friend, their rekindled love may be over before it’s begun.
