The City of Crows by Bethany Anne Lovejoy
It’s hard to be a witch. Especially in New Haven, a city where magic users and humans walk side by side, fully aware of -- and despising-- each other. That’s why I tried to leave that life behind, and my ex-boyfriend with it. What was magic anyway if it could be washed away with just a drop of water? Living a normal life, pretending to be an average woman and escaping the dangers of magic; that was far worth the trade.
Until I met Leo. A soft-spoken, gentle artist with a deadly curse inflicted on him for a slight he never committed. Though I try to pull away, he draws me in, nevermind the fact that I, nor any witch of this age, has the power necessary to heal him. But the closer I get to him, the more I want to try. The problem is, falling for Leo means falling back into the world I left.
Magic may wash away with water, but these feelings won’t...
